Your Shopify store isn’t just a website

It’s your salesperson, showroom and checkout counter — all at once

Every day, customers make decisions based on things most store owners never sit and watch happen.

If even one part creates friction, you can pay for the traffic and still lose the sale.

What they’re judging

  • How fast your store loads
  • How easily they find products
  • How trustworthy your product page feels
  • How clearly you communicate value
  • How smooth checkout feels
  • How good the store looks on mobile

Pretty isn’t enough

A Shopify store should be built around conversion

Many ecommerce websites are designed around one question. We ask more.

One question versus eight Most ecommerce sites are designed around a single question, does it look good. Eight further questions cover product findability, comprehension, mobile experience, trust signals, buying journey, tracking, paid traffic readiness and ability to scale. Most stores ask “Does it look good?” We ask more Can customers find what they need? Can they understand the product quickly? Is the mobile experience effortless? Are trust signals strong enough? Is the buying journey clear? Is tracking configured properly? Can Meta and Google send traffic here confidently? Can the store scale as the brand grows?

That’s the difference between building a website and building an ecommerce system.

    What we build

Shopify development from launch to scale

    New Shopify stores

Launch properly from day one. For brands moving into ecommerce or launching a new D2C business.

    • Store setup
    • Theme configuration
    • Custom design
    • Homepage
    • Collection pages
    • Product pages
    • Cart
    • Navigation
    • Search
    • Mobile optimisation
    • Payment setup support
    • Shipping configuration
    • Analytics
    • Tracking
    • App integrations

Built ready for customers. Not just ready for approval.

    Shopify redesign

Your brand grew. Did your website? An outdated store can make a strong brand feel smaller than it really is.

    • Brand perception — align the store with where the business is today
    • Shopping experience — improve discovery and navigation
    • Mobile UX — build around the device customers actually use
    • Conversion — reduce unnecessary friction
    • Performance — improve experience without loading the store with extra weight

    New look. Better system.

    Custom Shopify development

When the theme can’t do what your business needs. Not every requirement fits inside standard theme settings.

    • Custom sections
    • Product-page components
    • Advanced collection layouts
    • Filtering experiences
    • Interactive content
    • Promotional blocks
    • Cart functionality
    • Recommendation experiences
    • Custom landing pages
    • Theme modifications
    • Frontend interactions

Use the theme where it works. Customise where the business needs more.

    Shopify migration

Moving platforms shouldn’t mean losing momentum. A migration requires more than copying products across.

    • Product data
    • Collections
    • Customer data
    • URL structure
    • Redirects
    • SEO implications
    • Content
    • Images
    • Navigation
    • Design
    • Apps
    • Analytics
    • Payments
    • Shipping
    • Testing

Move the business. Not just the pages. Search sits in the same team, so redirects are handled as part of the plan rather than after the traffic drops.

    Product page development

    Most ecommerce decisions happen here

Your product page should answer seven questions before it asks for the sale.

    • What is this?
    • Why do I need it?
    • Why this brand?
    • Why should I trust it?
    • Which option should I choose?
    • When will I receive it?
    • What happens if I don’t like it?

    The goal: make buying easier.

    We design product pages around

    • Product hierarchy
    • Image galleries
    • Product benefits
    • Variants
    • Offers
    • Bundles
    • Reviews
    • Trust signals
    • FAQs
    • Delivery information
    • Return information
    • Cross-sells
    • Upsells
    • Recommendations
    • Sticky add-to-cart
    • Mobile usability

    Homepage and collection UX

Your homepage should direct traffic, not just impress it

    Homepage

Every section should have a reason to exist.

    • Hero campaign — the most important message first
    • Shop by category — help customers move immediately
    • Bestsellers — reduce decision friction
    • New arrivals — keep returning users engaged
    • Brand story — give people a reason to care
    • Trust signals — remove buying anxiety
    • Social proof — show that other people already chose you
    • Content — educate where required
    • CTA — move people deeper into the store

    Collection pages

Product discovery should feel effortless. Collection pages can be one of the highest-value areas of a store.

    • Filtering
    • Sorting
    • Product cards
    • Offers
    • Swatches
    • Pricing
    • Quick add
    • Badges
    • Pagination and loading
    • Mobile filtering
    • Category SEO
    • Internal linking

Help customers narrow 100 products down to the right one.

Don’t lose the customer at the finish line

By the time someone reaches the cart, you’ve already paid for the impression, the click, the browsing session, the product view — maybe even the remarketing.

Now the experience needs to finish the job.

    Every unnecessary hesitation costs conversion.

    What we review

    • Cart clarity
    • Shipping communication
    • Discount logic
    • Upsells
    • Free-shipping thresholds
    • Trust
    • Payment friction
    • Mobile experience
    • Abandonment opportunities
    • Checkout journey

Where should free shipping kick in?

A rule of thumb, not a law: roughly 25% above your average order, then checked against margin. It works because it nudges people to add one more item rather than rewarding the order they were already placing. Test it against your own data before committing.

    Shopify CRO

More traffic isn’t always the answer

If 10,000 visitors produce 100 orders, increasing traffic is one option. Improving what those 10,000 visitors do is another.

Traffic is expensive. Conversion makes more of it count.

    Our CRO approach can include

    • Funnel analysis
    • Product-page optimisation
    • Landing-page optimisation
    • CTA testing
    • Offer testing
    • Navigation improvements
    • Trust improvements
    • Mobile optimisation
    • Checkout analysis
    • Heatmap insights
    • Behaviour analysis
    • Conversion tracking

    Mobile first, and fast

    Every extra second adds friction

A large share of ecommerce discovery and purchasing happens on mobile. If the mobile experience feels difficult, the customer won’t wait for desktop.

    Mobile attention

    • Thumb-friendly navigation
    • Mobile menus
    • Product galleries
    • Sticky CTAs
    • Variant selection
    • Cart usability
    • Text hierarchy
    • Page speed
    • Filters
    • Search
    • Forms
    • Checkout journey

    Speed factors we review

    • Theme performance

What your page weight is made of

Select any band above. Most slow stores are slow for one or two of these reasons, not all five.

Illustrative, not measured. The proportions differ per store, which is why the first step is measuring yours rather than guessing.

Fast enough isn’t a design detail. It’s part of the buying experience.

One store. One connected ecommerce stack.

    Built for performance marketing

Your website and your ads shouldn’t live in separate worlds

Wordy isn’t only a development company. That matters, because when we build a store we also understand what happens next.

    Meta ads send traffic

Is the page aligned with the ad promise?

    Google Shopping sends high intent

Can they quickly find and buy the product?

    Retargeting brings someone back

Does the store remember where the friction was?

    Your campaign scales

Can the website handle the increase in traffic and complexity?

We understand the click before the website. And the conversion after it.

    Built for SEO

Development decisions affect search. Your Shopify architecture can influence:

    • Crawlability
    • Indexation
    • Category visibility
    • Internal linking
    • Page speed
    • Structured data
    • Duplicate content
    • Product discovery

That’s why SEO thinking is built into development instead of becoming a repair job after launch.

    Built for tracking

A beautiful store with broken tracking is a growth problem. We can support setup and validation around:

    • GA4
    • Google Tag Manager
    • Meta Pixel
    • Conversion events
    • Google Ads tracking
    • Ecommerce events
    • Funnel measurement
    • Purchase tracking
    • Add to cart
    • Begin checkout
    • Product views

When your campaigns start, you should already know what you’re measuring.

Cliky B2B software · website rebuilt around conversion 100 leads in a month
    • Custom build, not Shopify
    • Website rebuild
    • Brand & SEO
    • Mar–Dec 2024

Worth being straight about this one: Cliky was a custom website, not a Shopify store. We include it because the thinking is identical — the site was rebuilt as part of an acquisition system rather than as a brochure, which is exactly the argument this page makes about ecommerce.

    The situation

Cliky is a startup selling B2B software. The products were strong. The problem was that almost nobody knew they existed, and they were entering a market already dominated by established names.

Traffic was not the bottleneck. Credibility was — and the website was doing nothing to fix it.

    What we did

A rebuilt website restructured around conversion, delivered alongside brand identity, content and search rather than handed over as a standalone project.

    100Qualified leads in one month
    100,000+Organic visitors per month

    Sector
    B2B software
    Engagement
    Website, brand and lead generation
    Timeline
    31 March – 15 December 2024

    The outcome

The rebuild meant traffic had somewhere useful to land, and the brand work meant the company was taken seriously once it arrived. Organic search carried over 100,000 visitors a month into the funnel, and the engagement produced 100 qualified leads in a single month.

We haven’t published a Shopify case study, so there isn’t one on this page. Putting up an invented figure would contradict everything written above it — including the part where we say no credible agency guarantees a conversion rate.

On a call we can walk you through stores we’ve worked on, what we changed and what happened afterwards, including the things that didn’t work.

That conversation tends to be more useful than a number on a landing page anyway, because you can ask follow-up questions a case study never answers.

Because your developer should understand how your store makes money

    Development + marketing

We’re not designing the store in isolation from customer acquisition.

    CRO thinking

Conversion is considered from the beginning, not bolted on later.

    SEO thinking

    Search architecture isn’t an afterthought.

    Tracking ready

The store is prepared for analytics and advertising from the start.

    Creative + brand

The experience should look like your brand, not like Shopify.

    One team

Development, SEO, creative, analytics and performance marketing working together.

    Fewer handoffs. More accountability.

You need to launch your first serious ecommerce store.

    Growing Shopify brands

Your current store is functional but no longer reflects your scale.

You’re running ads and need a store built to convert that traffic better.

    Brands replatforming

Your existing platform is creating operational or growth limitations.

    Businesses with custom requirements

Your standard Shopify theme can’t support the experience you need.

    Frequently asked questions

Do you build new Shopify stores?

Yes. We can support complete Shopify builds from planning and design through development, integrations, QA and launch.

Can you redesign an existing Shopify store?

Yes. If your store already operates on Shopify, we can redesign the experience while preserving the parts of the existing setup that still work.

Do you use Shopify themes or custom development?

Both. The right approach depends on the business requirement, budget, functionality and design complexity. Sometimes a strong theme customised correctly is the best solution. Other projects require deeper custom development.

Can you migrate my existing ecommerce website to Shopify?

Yes, depending on your existing platform and project complexity. Migration planning can include products, content, URLs, redirects, structure, integrations and SEO considerations.

Do you build custom Shopify sections?

Yes. Custom sections and functionality can be developed where the standard theme doesn’t meet the required experience.

Can you improve an existing store’s conversion rate?

Yes. We can review the customer journey, product pages, cart, mobile UX, trust signals and wider funnel to identify CRO opportunities.

    Do you handle Shopify SEO?

Wordy also provides SEO services. For development projects we can incorporate SEO-friendly structural considerations, and can provide a deeper SEO scope separately where required.

Can you set up analytics and Meta or Google tracking?

Yes. Depending on the project scope, we can support GA4, Google Tag Manager, Meta Pixel and advertising conversion tracking.

Do you provide maintenance after launch?

Ongoing maintenance and optimisation can be included depending on the project or support agreement.

How long does Shopify development take?

The timeline depends on the number of pages, design requirements, custom functionality, number of products, integrations, content readiness and feedback cycles. A custom ecommerce project should be scoped properly before anyone gives you a final launch date.

Your next ad campaign is only as strong as the store it sends people to
